The Hugo Awards

Hugo Nominations

Nominations open early in January for the 2014 Hugo Awards and the John W Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and for the 1939 Retro-Hugo Awards.

This page provides information about who can nominate and instructions about how to do so, and links to online versions of the nomination ballot forms.

You can also submit nominations by post, using the ballot distributed in Progress Report 2.

The deadline for all nominating ballots to be received by the Hugo administrator is Monday 31 March 2014, 11.59 pm PDT (7.59 am BST on Tuesday 1 April – UK time).

Members of Loncon 3 who have an Attending, Young Adult Attending or Supporting membership by 31 January 2014 are eligible to nominate for the Hugo Awards and the Retro-Hugos. Equivalent members of LoneStarCon 3 (the 2013 Worldcon) and Sasquan (the 2015 Worldcon) at that date are also eligible to nominate.

All members eligible to nominate will be issued with a personal Hugo PIN to validate their nominating ballot. PINs are going out in batches, so don’t be concerned if you haven’t received yours yet; if you are eligible to nominate for the Hugo Awards this year you will receive your PIN shortly.

If you have lost your PIN – or if you still haven’t received yours, despite being patient initially! – you can email hugopin@loncon3.org.

If you have any other questions about the process or the Hugo Awards, please email hugoadmin@loncon3.org.
