Driving to ExCeL/Parking

If you’d prefer to be driven than to drive, you might want to check out coach travel. Many UK coach services to and from London operate via Victoria Coach Station, and there is information here about coach services. You’d then need to travel on to ExCeL, as with other routes.

If you’re planning to rent a car during your stay, you might be thinking of picking it up at your point of arrival and driving to the convention. However, unless you expect to need a car during the convention, we’d recommend not hiring one for this period. Public transport or even taxis are a much better way of getting around near ExCeL and in London generally. Moreover, especially if you have just flown into the country and are not used to driving on UK roads, driving in and around London is not a great deal of fun.

For a lot more information on driving in the London area you may also want to explore this section, in particular, of Transport for London’s website.

ExCeL's own advice for travelling by road is here.

The full address for ExCeL is
Royal Victoria Dock, 1 Western Gateway, London E16 1XL.

ExCeL recommend you use that post code for searching on e.g. www.streetmap.co.uk. However, for Sat Nav purposes they recommend using postcode E16 1DR. They have also prepared this map showing major local roads.

Parking

ExCeL's parking is £15 per 24 hours or part thereof. We advise people to park in the Orange or Purple undercroft car parks, as close to the east end as possible, or in the East car park on the surface. There is a map of ExCeL's parking facilities here.

Also please see ExCeL's own parking page for more details including height restrictions in the undercroft.

Some of the hotels advertise parking spaces for their guests; they still charge for this facility but it might be at a lower rate. Spaces may be limited so if you intend to make use of this facility, it would be good idea to contact your hotel once you have booked your room.
